Debuting as YEM Awards last year, coupled with a successful Award night, the frontline awards for youths and underground entertainers’ has evolved to CHASE Awards in bid to give the award more credibility and acceptability organisers PayBack Media revealed.
Speaking about the rebranding, Olakunle Osein, producer of the awards said, “We decided to give the award a new meaning for better representation, credibility and branding. CHASE AWARDS is working towards ensuring that this award becomes the symbol of the youth, Entertainment and culture in the country”.
He further said the new name will make the award more competitive: “The word “CHASE” itself means to run after something. We want the young and underground acts to chase this prestigious award; it’s for them and they must work hard to earn it.”
The organisers also intend to make known to the public the calendar for 2013 edition of the award alongside nomination process and official partners for CHASE Awards, (formerly YEM Awards) in the coming week.
CHASE Awards (formerly YEM Awards) is aimed at identifying and appreciating the good works of upcoming and underground entertainers in Nigeria and also, to recognise, encourage the people behind the scene who contribute in no small measure to the growth of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
The well attended inaugural edition was held at bespoke event centre with producing winners such as Eva- female rapper of the year; Yemi Alade- female artiste of the year, MayD- best male artiste; Fliptyce- producer of the year; Osi suave – OAP of the year, amongst others.
