We had a 3$UM on #TheDropSpot at Metro 97.7fm. Tolu was on, to chat about the EP with King Yhemiee and Ife explaining what informed the title. ‘Basically, it’s a celebration of my versatility.
There’s a song in there for everyone… Champion is a street song, New tinz is for those that love good things and Pretty mama is for girls that just love to dance’. On his reason for featuring CDQ on the song, ‘Champion’ he said, I wanted to reach out to a demographic and CDQ had that held down so I… and there was perfect synergy in the studio surprisingly.
King Yhemiee asked how he felt about the fact that some people who did good music were not getting as much pay as those who didn’t. Tolu made it clear that, ‘nowadays, it’s beyond talent. Unfortunately. The industry is… about push because if they don’t see you enough, they don’t know you. It’s about push. How much relevance do you have on social media, on TV, radio…’ Ife asked,’how much is music paying you, Tolu’. He said, ‘music is paying me but it’s not all about the money because if it were all about money, I would have given up four years ago.’
