After a brief hiatus, AbOriginal Music MC Boogey is back with “All Love”, a letter of
appreciation to his fans for the support and encouragement they’ve given him ever since his
entry into the music industry. Detailing his career twists and turns, the song finds Boogey in
story telling mode, as he recounts his personal and professional ups and downs, and offers
thanks to the fans for their support, while affirming his belief that a brighter future lies ahead.
“All Love” is the first release from Boogey’s mixtape, “TINAA (This Is Not An Acronym)”. A
collaboration with producer Charlie X, and featuring contributions from artistes such as Pryse,
Eclipse, Morrell and Zee, TINAA is an unofficial follow-up to Boogey’s classic mixtape, “Artificial
Inteligence”, and a precursor to his debut album “Something About David (S.A.D)”, due out in
2015.
“TINAA” is due for release on September 30, 2014.
About Boogey
“Boogey” requires no introduction to hip hop and music lovers: ever since his 2011 emergence as
the winner of the popular talent showcase “The Underground”, the talented lyricist born David
Iye Odey has carved out a reputation as THE MC to watch on the Nigerian music scene,
courtesy a dizzying display of lyrical ability over a diverse array of rap and hip hop projects, and
which has resulted in one of the most prolific, diverse and accomplished bodies of quality work
by a hip hop artiste.
Solo releases like “I’m Wack”, “You and You”, and “Burning Bush” and features on projects by
more established artistes and producers (DJ Klem’s “Beautiful Mind”, Fecko’s “The Future”
[featuring Chocolate City’s Pryse and World Famous Academy’s Peter Clarke], Cyrus Tha Virus’
“SWATs & Bloodhounds 2” and A-Q’s “Machine Gun Flow” [featuring Morell], to name but a few)
have been enthusiastically received by the hip hop public, and gained him a devoted and loyal
audience.
The immense interest created by his success, resulted in Boogey being invited to feature on
2012’s three most anticipated hip hop projects: Terry Tha Rapman’s “World Domination”
Modenine’s “Occupy The Throne”, and MI’s star-studded “Illegal Music 2”. He didn’t disappoint,
delivering standout verses on each project, with his verse on “Ridiculous” (“Illegal Music 2”), in
particular, hailed by critics and fans as the standout guest feature of the year- an incredible feat
for a “rookie”.
Boogey also experienced success with his 2012 independent mixtape, “Art-ificial Intelligence”.
Featuring his trademark lyricism “doused with consciousness, poetry, intellect, humor, love and
rebellion- and served with a side helping of witty sarcasm”, the mixtape was positively received
by the public, and drew comparisons to classic concept hip hop albums and mixtapes from
notable MCs such as Eminem, Nas, Talib Kweli, MI, and Common.
Signed to AbOriginal Music, Boogey is currently working on his debut EP “Something About
David”. The project promises to reveal a more personal, multidimensional—and human—side to
Boogey than rap and hip hop fans are used to—or may have come to expect—from his previous
material.
“Something About David” is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2014.
