RockNite surely did rock, I must confess. I can confidently say that Nigerian Music
is almost matured. What other way could they have started the show, if not with an
anonymous rock band coming on stage just to display with Guitar, Drum Set and Key
Board. Even without vocals, the stage presence and communication with audience was
absolutely perfect.
Nevertheless, we had a break in the momentum with Clay. She did
well, but for heaven’s sake it’s a rock performance, she should have commanded the
stage and the band more, communication with the audience was just average.
I like Christine Ameh’s smile and composure on the stage, plus she captured our
heart more with her smiles, while she gat her hands on the guitar performing her
new single MY DADDY…
Honey was the perfect person to bring us back to full speed, with his own rock
version of DBanj’s “Fall in Love” .…He communicated well with his audience and I
could see some ladies already dreaming of his proposal. In my best opinion,
Threadstone Rock Band has the greatest live performance I have seen in Nigeria so
far, and I think the R&B, Hip Hop and the Naija cruise Artists should try and
emulate this kind of live performance and stage attitude when delivering to their
fans.
Versatility determines a good artist, Aramide, not a rock artist and but a soul
singer for dat matter, kept up the pace with a great performance. Although, she may
need to work more on communication with her band. Ruby made my night, first time I’m
watching her perform and it’s very hard to fault… I will really say everything was
near perfect with this ‘Rock Lady”.
The Show also had performances by WAJE and M.I, which I wouldn’t say much about,
because I didn’t expect less. However, I need to commend both of them for the
excellent blend with the rock band, stage presence and communication with the
audience. I mean you should have been at the Rock Nite to really understand the
level which Nigerian Music has attained; mere words just can’t explain it. I would
have said it is a world class standard, but in my own view; they need to work on
voice delivery on the stage, or maybe it’s the speakers.
