With her unique blend of modern Afrobeats and R&B music, emerging British Nigerian songstress Mel Rouge is carving a lane for herself within the buzzing African music landscape, as she debuts her brand new single titled ‘Senpe’, featuring Burna Boy, as premiered on BBC 1Xtra.
Produced by JFem, who has previously worked with the likes of Davido, Wande Coal, andFlavour, ‘Senpe’ sees Mel Rouge singing in a mixture of English and her native Yoruba dialect, to captivate her listeners, over this bass-heavy dance floor filler, packed with lush synth arrangements, and thumping drum patterns, with Burna Boy doing exactly what he does best, and taking the record up a few notches.
Although she might be the ‘new kid on the block’, Mel Rouge has already supported Wizkidand L.A.X on their October 2015 StarBoy tour, and has opened for Trey Songz at last year’sRhythm Unplugged concert in Nigeria, with several leading industry tastemakers praising the London-born singer and songwriter for her energy and show-stopping live performances.
Counting icons such as Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Fela Kuti, KWAM 1 and Wizkid as some of her inspiration and influences, Mel Rouge has always had the passion for creating and performing, whether it is music or the arts. With her new single ‘Senpe’, she is bringing those passions to life, and is proud to invite audiences on her musical journey and wonderful adventure.
