Born in Kampala, Uganda, the Toronto based musician was raised on an array of musical influences drawn from his time spent in both Africa and Asia. Initially drawn to acts such acts such as Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, he was soon introduced to rap music resulting in an immediate immersion into hip-hop culture. An avid fan of artists such as Eminem, Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, & Lupe Fiasco, it was the emotional imagery they chose to drive their songs with that inspired and influenced his development as both artist and songwriter. With an affinity to such rappers, 3-Card’s music is a refreshing throwback to an era when emcee’s spent time telling stories with their words.
“There was a lot going on in those songs, and a lot of it was really personal, you connected with them. I really wanted to be able to do that, not just have people listen, but hopefully feel something through the music as well”. 3-Card
