Audrey Allen Foundation for Children is an N.G.O (Non Governmental Organization) established to cater in the interest of the under privileged, physically challenged and abused children in the society.
Acting in the capacity of a coordinator of N.G.O’s, as it undertakes the responsibility of others N.G.O’s in the aspect of assisting them in sourcing for funds through entertainment, as it has come to its notice that must N.G.O’s in the country today are incapacitated due to lack of funds to carry out their functions.
The Foundation started with a proposed film project which is still on board, the C.E.O celebrating her birthday with the less privileged children via a fun filled party with top entertainers in Abuja.
A.A.F ( Audrey Allen Foundation) recently also went into collaboration with J.C.I ( Junior Chambers International, Nigeria, Bida Chapter) a worldwide federation of active citizens and successfully carried out a program “CATCH THEM YOUNG” an inter secondary school debate competition amongst all the senior secondary schools in Bida, Niger state, with the Theme “ My Education, My assets”. This event was held, between 16th – 20th October 2012 on the premises of The Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger state.
It all started on the 16th October 2012 with the registration of participating schools, with the total sum of 18 schools registered (private and public).
The event proper kicked off on the 18th October 2012 with a career talk to the participating students where they were educated on the various available career choices for the Nigerian youth and how to identify your career path in life and also ways of becoming self reliant.
The following day was the beginning of the debate competition with the topic “I’ll rather be an artist than to be a scientist”. It was quite an interesting round as the students battled it out to remain in the competition with facts and opinions about the topic. By the verdict of the impartial judges 13 schools scaled through for the grand finale.
The grand finale was an exciting day as the students were thrilled to a lot of entertainment, so as to cool off the tension that was built up the previous day. The topic for the grand finale was “girl child education is a burden” (this topic was chosen due to the fact that the girl child education in the north was dwindling). It was a fierce battle but that ended with Government model Secondary school A (first position), Ndayako secondary school Bida, Niger state ( second position), Government secondary school Bida, Niger state ( third position) , respectively.
The competition was held as a way of contributing to the educational sector, with a focus on secondary schools with the aim of “catching Them Young”, various prizes including, certificate of attendance to all participating schools, customized exercise books and pen for all participating students, wall clock, mathematical sets and the grand prize of payment of WAEC/NECO fees for the winning student.
Another event was recently held few days back “RED & WHITE XMAS CAROL PARTY” for the children all funded by the foundation with supports from our partners, more details about it will be release soon along with musical event for the coming year involving major celebrated artists and independent.
