Shuga V is no stranger to crafting quality music, having collaborated with several artists in the past including powerhouse producer and force behind Styl Plus, Mekoyo. A gifted songwriter, who has worked with songstress Waje and he also penned Mekoyo’s 2004 hit single, Money. In 2007, he scored a guest appearance on J. Martin’s debut album on the track “Swagger Dance and Walk it Like You Talk it’. Change Hand serves as a preview of sorts, to keep the appetite of his fans temporarily sated while familiarizing the rest of the world with the undeniable cornucopia of talent that is Shuga V.
The deeply introspective ‘Change Hand’ sees Shuga V celebrating the changes in his life that have come to serve as markers of his progress. This elevation from a relative state of want to plenty is relayed over a soulful beat produced by prolific and wave-making Phyno along with accompanying vocals from Bayelsa-born king of dancehall, Timaya. On the song, Shuga V shows the range of his ability by alternately rapping and singing effortlessly. Even with Phyno’s impeccable production inadvertently putting Timaya in his element, Shuga V takes the reins and sets the pace in this exercise in musical reflection.
