At the age of 14, SOJI moved from Lagos to the United States with his family. This is where he picked up the guitar; taking lessons at a local church and was finally able to turn his passion for poetry into music. Since then, he has written tirelessly; moving around and DOWNmeeting people with shared experiences that inspires his music.
“I sing of love and what I believe makes us tick.”
This is how Soji describes himself. He does not know how to categorize his genre but has worked very hard to impart a soulful and heartfelt experience for audiences.
Soji started performing for audiences in 2007 and has since incorporated several influences into his music. He readily admits to being influenced by John Mayer, Lauryn Hill, Fela, and Ali Farka Toure.
