See Nigeria through my eyes
See my country as I have
See the roads as I see them
As an adventure with every bump,
And thud.
See Nigeria through my eyes
See the market place as one of
Meeting and of making friends
Where girls go to learn to be
Home makers
See Nigeria through my eyes
Watch us exclaim and rain curses
On those at the top
Watch us express the injustice
Through tears and prayers to God
See Nigeria through my eyes
See us scramble for a chance to get a visa
One we feel…..will make our life better
See us borrow, beg, pray
And go through dubious means
To get that visa
See Nigeria through my eyes
Watch as we frown at the law
Watch as we grumble and sigh
As they tell us to pull aside
Hear the names we call them for
Collecting bribe
See Nigeria through my eyes
A country of beauty
Where everyone is ready to help
Where we suffer and still have a reason to give thanks
Where handwork is a must
And children always a source of joy
See Nigeria through my eyes
I’d rather not leave this country of mine
For the love I feel each time I step out
Is enough to fill me for centuries to come
