Where have you been?
He whispered in my ear
And I told him
I have been in a shell
Way down the bottom of the sea
Hoping my prince would find me
Almost giving up
Where have you been?
He asked again
For he had been searching
But none seemed to fit his criteria
Where have you been?
For he couldn’t believe he has lived for so long and not have come across my smile
Where have you been?
‘Around’ I said
For that’s where I have been
But fitting it with darkness
And hiding when I see light
Where have you been?
Wallowing in misery
I answered
That’s where I have been
That’s what I have been doing
Where have you been?
In my fathers house
Waiting for one to come ask for my hand
Tired of having my step mum
Torment me day-in-day-out
Where have you been?
Locked in a tower
Never to leave this land
Where have you been?
But before I could answer
He covered my mouth
And said to me
‘It doesn’t matter, I have found you now and am never letting go….for I love you
with all that makes me’
